Gene Leahy Mall at the RiverFront

The Riverfront connects and reimagines three existing parks on 200 acres along the Missouri riverfront: Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park, and Lewis and Clark Landing. The park includes a children’s play area, dog park, skate park, children museum and sculpture gardens with the goal of activating the downtown core and strengthening the city’s connection to the river. Omaha mayor Mayor Jean Stothert said “I believe this will be one of the most significant projects in Omaha’s history… “It reflects the generosity of donors, the beauty of the riverfront, and our faith in the future. The parks will be a destination for our citizens and visitors. We will attract new talent, new convention business and new events.” RSM worked on the sign design for the overall park, with a unique curved form, inspired by the logo and the late modern architecture of the downtown. Warm metals and a pop of blue or green express the sense of place with a timeless quality at the heart of this landmark project for the City of Omaha.
