Los Angeles, California

Playa Vista Parks

The Playa Vista community is located just south of Los Angeles near Marina del Rey, and is the home to the iconic Howard Hughes offices from the 1950's. The site now consists of over 100 acres and was once home to the the original hangar and runway for the massive Spruce Goose plane. RSM Design, in collaboration with three landscape firms, created the park naming and identity signage for each of the seven individual parks within the community as well as signage and wayfinding for The Link, which connects the community and parks along its main thoroughfare. The naming and identity components are unique to each park and were intentionally named without the word "park" to give them sense of place and add a fun aesthetic to the character of the parks.
