LATVIA, ALBANIA, MEXICO…AND BEYOND
RSM Design’s studios are currently designing a broad spectrum of international projects and exploring the importance of placemaking in unique cultural and historic destinations. Our team is excited to be working alongside an impressive array of international clients and consultants to universally connect communities to a global conversation of placemaking. Whether it be wayfinding signage or placemaking enhancements within the developments, the conversations are similar across continents and aim to craft vibrant engaging spaces that resonate with the cultures and communities they are a part of.
The RSM Design team, led by the director of our international projects Harry Mark FAIA, is excited to be expanding our global portfolio by shaping the built environment with visionary concepts that inspire and connect people around the world.
AeroCity is rapidly emerging as a premier destination for business, leisure, and entertainment, strategically located next to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. RSM Design is proud to contribute to this transit-oriented development with our team’s specialized placemaking and wayfinding expertise. Previously, we were asked to complete the branding and environmental graphic design for AeroCity. Now, we have been reengaged to focus on creating an intuitive and engaging navigational system that enhances the visitor experience, seamlessly guiding guests through the ever-expanding complex of hotels, offices, retail spaces, and recreational areas.
RSM Design is honored to be actively involved in designing placemaking solutions and wayfinding strategies for the Durrës Waterfront, an exciting new development along Albania’s stunning Adriatic Riviera. This innovative development promises to be one of the most energetic destinations in the region, offering a world-class mixed-use experience, encompassing luxury resorts, yacht clubs, entertainment offerings, and high-end retail. RSM Design’s role has been to create a cohesive and intuitive placemaking strategy and navigation system that will guide visitors seamlessly through the many diverse offerings.
RSM Design is excited to be crafting the placemaking strategy for one of the largest developments in Latvia. The Riga Waterfront is a transformative development along a prime 4.5 km stretch of riverfront, adjacent to Riga’s UNESCO World Heritage historic city center. Our design approach focuses on activating the site through a blend of art, entertainment, history, and placemaking. By incorporating public art installations, cultural programming, and immersive experiences, we aim to create spaces that engage and inspire both residents and visitors.
Cairo Gate aspires to be a hub where modern commerce, exceptional dining, and community programming come together to foster connection and creativity. RSM Design is excited to contribute our expertise in placemaking and wayfinding to help realize the vision of a lively mixed-use destination. The design solution involves transforming the plazas into dynamic and unique destinations that prioritize the pedestrian experience. By strategically integrating placemaking elements such as lighting, furniture, art, and programmed experiences, we aim to craft spaces that reinforce connectivity to the culture and community.
Working closely with the client team on their first international development, RSM Design is creating the branding for all of the hotel’s destination venues, ensuring each brand reflects the unique characteristics of the space, and overall ambiance of the resort. Additionally, we are designing environmental graphics and wayfinding throughout the resort, drawing inspiration from the stunning natural landscape and materials found along Mexico’s dramatic coastline.
RSM Design is crafting placemaking experiences for one of Abu Dhabi’s latest destination developments, the Ramhan Island Marina. Our work focuses on activating the marina and waterfront promenade to create a dynamic, multi-layered walkable environment. By breaking the promenade and marina district into distinct areas, we are defining the unique experiences that visitors and residents will have—shaping how these spaces feel, look, and function. This approach not only aids in navigation but also fosters memorable moments and a strong sense of place. Leading with the principle of art as landmark, we are incorporating sculptural elements to activate the marina, offering visual landmarks that elevate the experience.
As RSM Design continues to expand our global experiences, we are excited to contribute our expertise to a wide range of projects that focus on creating meaningful, engaging environments. Our work spans various sectors, from waterfront developments to mixed-use destinations, and emphasizes the importance of placemaking in shaping flourishing enriching experiences. Each project is an opportunity to celebrate local culture and craft memorable moments that resonate with each community. The creative team at RSM Design is proud to play a part in designing spaces and experiences that are leaving a lasting impact on the built environment across the world.
