Award Winning Legacy Wall at the Kanawha County Public Library
COMMUNICATION ARTS 2023 DESIGN ANNUAL AWARD
The Legacy Wall within the Kanawha County Public Library in Charleston, West Virginia, was recently recognized by the Communication Arts 2023 Design Annual competition for Environmental Graphics. Out of 3,350 entries, the Legacy Wall, designed by RSM Design, was selected as a winner within the Environmental Graphics category. Winning projects will be featured in the 2023 Design Annual October/November printed publication, where more than 25,000 copies will be distributed to art stores, bookstores, and online.
AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS (AIA) AWARD FOR CRAFTSMANSHIP
The West Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has recognized the Legacy Wall within the Kanawha County Public Library with an Honor Award for Craftsmanship. This award is the highest level of recognition for this special category celebrating design, detailing, and execution. RSM Design worked alongside Silling Architects, Design Communications Limited (DCL), PrayWorks, and the Kanawha County Public Library to design and fabricate this wall that honors those members of the community that made the library possible. Placed within the entry lobby and rising over four floors, the installation embodies the principle of individual participation as a building block to create something greater than oneself, with the individual elements assembled as an additive structure, supporting one another and crafting a unified experience.

ADDITIONAL AWARDS
The Legacy Wall within the Kanawha County Public Library was recently recognized as a winner for the 2022 Creative Communication Award (C2A Awards) in the category Environmental Graphics / Functional Typography. Also, the Legacy Wall also won an International Design award (IDA Awards) within the Wayfinding & Environmental Graphics Category. RSM Design has been grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the transformational Kanawha County Public Library.
